Fundraising Campaign for Australian Wildfires
Zendesk is fundraising to help the local Melbourne team raise $50,000 (or more!!) that will be donated to the Australian Red Cross.
On top of that, Zendesk?s CEO Mikkel has agreed to match each dollar raised by Zendesk employees (up to $50,000) between now and Jan 17th, giving us a wonderful opportunity to double the impact of our donations.?
All funds raised will go directly towards the Australian Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery work, which in part supports Red Cross emergency service teams responding to fires in New South Wales, Victoria, and across Australia. Your contribution will ensure the Australian Red Cross has trained volunteers, aid workers, and staff ready to respond to the immediate bushfire crisis. It will also ensure they are prepared for future disaster events within Australia and abroad.?
This is part of a broader initiative being driven by the Zendesk Sustainability team to strengthen Zendesk?s commitment and efforts to fighting climate change in 2020 and beyond. However, given the scope of Australia?s current bushfire crisis, and the level of international interest and desire to help, we believe that this fundraising campaign is best served by immediately supporting our colleagues and customers in Australia who are directly impacted by this devastating event.

Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis The Wise? I thought not. It’s not a story the Jedi would tell you. It’s a Sith legend. Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith, so powerful and so wise he could use the Force to influence the midichlorians to create life… He had such a knowledge of the dark side that he could even keep the ones he cared about from dying. The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. He became so powerful… the only thing he was afraid of was losing his power, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew, then his apprentice killed him in his sleep. Ironic. He could save others from death, but not himself.
